Carpet Care Tip: Stay Off the Carpet

It's a good idea to schedule your next professional cleaning at a time when you plan to be off the carpeted areas of your home. However, if you do need to walk on the carpet while it's drying, our technician will leave shoe covers for your convenience.

Carpet Care Tip: Use a HEPA filter

This is particularly important if you (or a loved one in your household) suffer from allergies. A HEPA filter is particularly effective at trapping the majority of particles the vacuum collects (even extremely tiny ones), such as dust, dander, and pollen. Our professional vacuums have a double HEPA filter to enable us to remove as much of the insoluble soil from the carpet as possible before even starting the cleaning process.

Carpet Care Tip: Wipe Paws

Wiping off your dog's paws as they come inside is a great way to reduce the amount of dirt and unwanted particles that could be tracked into your home. This can be particularly helpful during periods of wet weather to prevent muddy paw prints on the carpet.

Carpet Care Tip: Close Curtains

Simply closing the curtains or blinds as you leave your house for the day is a quick and easy way to prolong the life of your carpet as excessive exposure to sunlight can damage carpet fibers.

Tips for keeping your carpets looking their best between cleanings with a pup in the home:

1. Vacuum at least twice a week, ideally with a vacuum that is specifically designed for pet hair. It's a good idea to utilize the attachments for cleaning corners or harder to reach areas, as pet hair and dander tend to accumulate there.

2. Clean up messes as soon as possible! We recommend using the spotter that our technician provided at your last cleaning, as over the counter products (especially ones specifically meant for pets) can damage your carpet and cause permanent discolorations.

3. Keep your dog's nails trimmed to prevent damage to the carpet fiber.

4. Regularly bathe your pup. Not only will your furry friend look fluffier and smell better, but it can help your carpet to stay cleaner since it can reduce the amount of pet oil transferred from your pet's fur to the carpet (which attracts soil).

5. Don't forget to schedule regular professional cleanings to ensure that your carpet will continue to look its best.

Carpet Care Tip: Change vacuum bag frequently

If you're going to go through the effort of vacuuming, you might as well make it count. It's important to make sure to empty the canister or switch out the bag on your vacuum frequently for maximum suction (typically recommended before it's 2/3 full but it will depend on your vacuum).

Carpet Care Tip: Water Plants, Not Carpet

Carpet Care Tip: Water the plants, not the carpet. If you have indoor plants in your home along with carpeting, you'll want to make sure not to overwater them. Spilling an excessive amount of water and/or soil mixture from plants onto the carpet can create a number of problems, including unsightly spots, unpleasant odors, and even permanent staining. It's also a good idea to reconsider placing a potted plant directly on the carpet, as permanent rings can form on your carpeting.
