If you spill coffee on your carpet, whether or not the spot can be removed is affected by the caffeine content of the coffee bean (whether it's decaf or regular). Why does that matter? Regular coffee contains natural dyes, "tannins," whereas decaf coffee is most often made from beans that contain artificial coloring (as the process of removing the caffeine can remove the color of the beans along with it). This artificial coloring is much more difficult to remove than the naturally occurring tannins found in regular coffee.
If what you've spilled is regular coffee, you may be feeling pretty relieved at the moment. However, it's important to note that some organic coffees contain artificial coloring as well and whether or not cream and sugar are in the spilled coffee can also affect the removal of the spot.
With all spills, you'll want to avoid panicking and using over the counter spotters that can turn the spot into a permanent stain. If your carpet is affected by coffee (decaf or regular), let us know. We can help!
